"I love my time with Spotlight and look forward to every session"
Spotlight Music and Drama is run by Carole Church, an experienced performing arts teacher in the field of special educational needs. She has been teaching for 30 years and has worked with those with profound and multiple difficulties, moderate and severe needs and those with severe and moderate autism. Many of her pupils have also had to deal with emotional needs and she has had particular success with young people with not only educational difficulties but also with post traumatic stress disorder and behavioural difficulties.
Starting off in the mainstream primary sector she quickly realised that she had a particular skill in communicating, through performing arts, with people with learning difficulties and autism, helping to build confidence and communication through singing, acting and dance. Her first group was called Stage Right, part of the Greenwich Academy of Music and Drama and is still operating in schools in both Bexley and Greenwich. Many of her students have gone on to work and study in the field of performing arts with Magpie Dance, Trinity Laban College, North Kent College and the Green Goose Theatre Group in Bromley.
She works with people of any age, ability and skill and is a Makaton and Signalong signer.
